Free dubstep/grime album: Terror Danjah – “Shock To The System”

I’ve been playing random bits from Terror Danjah for the last few months. His style is on some grimey swagger shit, with his dancefloor tunes funneling references to jungle and rave through his own unique sound. This is an actual album – not just a mixtape or a bunch of random tunes thrown together for the sake of a free release. He touches on grime, dubstep, house and a few things in between, all while maintaining cohesiveness and quality.
According to his MySpace: “Terror Danjah isn’t a household name, he’s not as well known as Wiley or Dizzee Rascal, but he’s considered by the grime cognoscenti to be the best grime producer ever.” If Mr. Danjah keeps putting out music on this level he’s definitely become a household name; with releases on Planet Mu and Hyperdub, two of my favorite labels, he’s already made his way into multiple markets and I have no doubt his sonic infiltration with stop any time soon.

Breakage Essential Mix

Breakage was initially known for his amen laced jungle and DNB tunes, smashing into the scene with “Mars” and “So Vain”. Fast forward a few years, many releases and critical acclaim and we find Breakage aligned with Shy FX’s Digital Soundboy imprint, dominating the dubstep/grime charts and still making his mark on the jungle/DNB scene.

New mix from MRK1

If you follow dubstep or grime then you are familiar with producer and DJ MRK1. He’s been a prominent voice in the community for some time and this is his latest mix offering. Download, enjoy and please make sure you share. I don’t have a track listing but if you do please comment and I’ll be happy to post it.
Starkey’s Resident Advisor Podcast

Philly is known for many great things, namely their cheese steak sandwiches, the greatest hiphop band on the earth aka The Roots, Philly brand blunts and in the last 2 years Starkey. He’s really put the state, and the US, on the map for eclectic bass music in the last couple of years, making quite a racket with his releases on Planet-Mu and developing a reputation for high energy, bass heavy DJ sets.
In means of promotion of his newest album, “Ear Drums and Black Holes”, he’s had the honor of doing a mix for the Resident Advisor podcast series which, in my opinion, contains some of the raddest that the various electronic music spectrums have to offer. Subscription to the series is highly, highly recommended.
