Luthor – UltraViolet EP

without comments

Distinctive techno and electronica fused with dubstep beats meshed together in this EP, which once again encompasses the unique and instantly identifiable sound of Luthor. Ultra is a minimal techno piece laced with dubby stabs and riffs giving it that late night feel. Anoxic steps up the pace with an upbeat, techno-driven with tempo twists and unique breakdown. Greek God is truly one of Luthor’s best dance floor anthems to date; old school rave stabs ebb and flow through this track, backed up with detailed, driving percussion. Violet rounds out the EP with a laid back tune centered around a big bassline and quirky techno stabs.

Release date: 8/16/10, available on Beatport, Itunes and many more. Visit HauntedAudio.com for details.

Scuba at Down, Bar Black, Miami

without comments

About 5 years ago I heard a mix called “Paul Rose’s Dubstep Breaks”. At that time I was listening strictly to DNB and IDM and the word “dubstep” hadn’t made it’s way to people’s lips yet. This was the first I’d hear of dubstep, and my interest was sparked, launching an all out investigation into this new world.

Shortly after Paul Rose became known as Scuba and rose in popularity, parallel to the dubstep phenomenon. His label, Hot Flush Recordings, is one of the cornerstones of the house of dubstep, focusing on the deeper, more lush sides of the spectrum.

Along with DJ’s: Ashworth, Somejerk, Gray Ghost, Munkz , Claro, Gooddroid.

Scuba will be going on at a decent time for all our Monday morning workers!

No cover till 11, $5 after.  DOLLAR RED STRIPES TILL 11! Food and giveaways. And of course, DEEP bass.

Free dubstep/grime album: Terror Danjah – “Shock To The System”

without comments

I’ve been playing random bits from Terror Danjah for the last few months. His style is on some grimey swagger shit, with his dancefloor tunes funneling references to jungle and rave through his own unique sound. This is an actual album – not just a mixtape or a bunch of random tunes thrown together for the sake of a free release. He touches on grime, dubstep, house and a few things in between, all while maintaining cohesiveness and quality.

According to his MySpace: “Terror Danjah isn’t a household name, he’s not as well known as Wiley or Dizzee Rascal, but he’s considered by the grime cognoscenti to be the best grime producer ever.” If Mr. Danjah keeps putting out music on this level he’s definitely become a household name; with releases on Planet Mu and Hyperdub, two of my favorite labels, he’s already made his way into multiple markets and I have no doubt his sonic infiltration with stop any time soon.

Download the album and support the man by buying some tunes from Beatport or your favorite source for soundwaves.
