Free dubstep/grime album: Terror Danjah – “Shock To The System”

without comments

I’ve been playing random bits from Terror Danjah for the last few months. His style is on some grimey swagger shit, with his dancefloor tunes funneling references to jungle and rave through his own unique sound. This is an actual album – not just a mixtape or a bunch of random tunes thrown together for the sake of a free release. He touches on grime, dubstep, house and a few things in between, all while maintaining cohesiveness and quality.

According to his MySpace: “Terror Danjah isn’t a household name, he’s not as well known as Wiley or Dizzee Rascal, but he’s considered by the grime cognoscenti to be the best grime producer ever.” If Mr. Danjah keeps putting out music on this level he’s definitely become a household name; with releases on Planet Mu and Hyperdub, two of my favorite labels, he’s already made his way into multiple markets and I have no doubt his sonic infiltration with stop any time soon.

Download the album and support the man by buying some tunes from Beatport or your favorite source for soundwaves.

More awesome remixes from George Lenton

without comments

George Lenton is on FIRE! Not that I’d expect anything less from one of the UK’s brightest and most talented electronic music producers. His unique take on pop songs integrates them into a new sonic realm, squeezing drops of sweet, poppy vocals in between grimey beats and filthy basslines.

Download the tunes and check out his SoundCloud page for more free tunes and mixes.

Eleven Tigers – Clouds Are Mountains

without comments

Released by London’s Soul Motive label, this fine CD by Eleven Tigers, aka Lithuanian producer Jokubas Dargis, features huge sounds in the vein of Clubroot, Burial, Kontext and Mindset. Expansive and moving, the CD is sequenced like a mixtape, incorporating shoe-gaze elements with deep dubtech and idm-informed sounds. This may be my favorite release this year so far.
